Changes Upstream - the Photographs of Stanley G. Triggs

Travel Journal

Notes kept by Stanley to document his journey down the river.

Saturday August 15

Went with Fane to Mojak's and photographed around the barns. He was out riding, checking the cattle, so I got pictures of him and his horse, a large appaloosa.

Fane and I afterward visited the site of the old Elk River Bridge - out since the last 10 years or so when the bridge was in it was only a short distance by road to Waldo from Dorr. The lack of a bridge isolates the Mojaks and the Toskas considerably.

Bill Ostreich just told me his was the last vehicle over the bridge, he was returning to Waldo just as the road crew was putting up the Barrier - a three ton truck. He had to talk the crew in to letting him across.

We returned around 1 o'clock, had lunch then lazed around until about 3 when we went to visit the Thiellens - the ranch neighbouring Bill's place. It is right on the border and is the old Michael Phillips Ranch.
